Overview

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in patient requests for rehabilitations on both natural teeth and implants. These requests require advanced surgical, periodontal, and prosthetic skills. Moreover, rehabilitation needs are not only functional but must also be optimal from an aesthetic point of view.

This course allows participants to share the experience of a team led by two international experts who have combined their expertise in the fields of bone reconstruction, peri-implant soft tissue management, and digital workflow, offering a unique and up-to-date training program.

The course will conclude with an in-depth study of zygomatic surgery techniques.

During the practical part on cadavers, the various procedures described in the theoretical part will be demonstrated, and the most important “at-risk” anatomical structures that may be encountered during surgeries will be identified.

Subsequently, participants will perform practical exercises under the direct supervision of the instructors.

The course is aimed at professionals who already have considerable experience in implantology but who seek further training to tackle complex anatomical and/or clinical situations and wish to enhance their surgical skills.

Course Topic - Day 1

13 February 09:00 – 18:00

  • Participant Registration/ Theoretical Activity Session I: the digital treatment plan, post-extractive implants
  • The modern treatment plan: the protocol of PGR (Prosthetically Guided Regeneration)in the digital era
  • Post-extraction socket management in the digital era: computer-guided surgery, soft tissue augmentation, immediate prosthesis, and use of BLX and TLX implants
  • Streamlining the use of biomaterials in reconstructive/regenerative techniques
  • Bone regeneration techniques for the treatment of peri-implant dehiscences and fenestrations
  • Flap management and periosteum release techniques to achieve a tension-free wound
  • Discussion

Course Topic - Day 2

14 February 09:00 – 18:00

  • Practical Activity I Session: the treatment of small defects: Insertion of Straumann BLX and TLX post-extractive implants in the cosmetic area, diconnective retrieval from the palate, gap filling using biomaterials, soft tissue augmentation at the post-extractive site
  • Guided bone regeneration techniques in preimplant dehiscences and fenestrations. Membrane fixation techniques using pins, use of dermis matrices to increase soft tissue thickness, the sliding palatal flap, release and suture techniques.
  • Theoretical Activity II Session: the techniques of autologous bone harvesting – Simplified bone harvesting techniques with scraper. Techniques for harvesting bone blocks from the mandibular ramus.
  • Practical Activity II Session: autologous bone harvesting techniques – Simplified bone harvesting techniques with scraper. Techniques for harvesting bone blocks from the mandibular ramus. Anatomical dissection of the lingual nerve and inferior alveolar nerve.
  • Theoretical Activity III Session: the complex reconstructive techniques – Guided bone regeneration and block bone grafts in the treatment of complex bone defects. Postoperative management after augmentation techniques
  • Practical Activity III Session: the complex reconstructive techniques – Anatomical dissection of the mental nerve. Techniques for modeling and fixation of block grafts using osteosynthesis screws. Techniques of guided bone regeneration using the “sausage” technique. Release and suture techniques

Welcome to Cremona

Cremona is the city of music par excellence, world-famous for the art of “liuteria”, the construction of stringed instruments. This tradition that was included in the Unesco Heritage list in 2012. Famous for the Violin Museum, which houses unique pieces that belonged to famous violin makers of the past; but also, Stradivari’s house, and the Ponchielli Theater, dedicated to the Cremonese musician.

Cremona’s monumental Cathedral can easily be considered one of the most stunning religious buildings in northern Italy. It has earned the nickname of “Sistine Chapel of the north” because of the incredible series of frescoes and paintings that decorate the interiors.

The symbol of the city is the Torrazzo, the bell tower located in the town hall square, is the tallest brick tower in Europe. Palazzo Cittanova and Palazzo Trecchi used to be the home of local noble families and the seat of the local council. The king of local sweets is torrone, a nougat made of toasted almonds and honey, is the most popular sweet in town, also well-known is mostarda cremonese, a special spicy-sweet condiment that contains a mix of large chunks of fruits preserved in a mustard syrup.

Matteo Chiapasco
